print file guidelines

Here's how to make print files in Adobe Illustrator or Adobe InDesign:

1. Document Setup

• Units: mm (millimetres)
• Bleed: 3mm all-round
• Colour Mode: CMYK
• Raster Effects: High (300ppi)

2. When Designing

• All images should be embedded and have a resolution of at least 300ppi
• All fonts should be properly embedded or outlined
• Any colours and images that are on the edge of the artboard should be extended into the bleed area

3. Creating the Print File

• Delete any hidden layers
• Convert everything to CMYK
• Save as a PDF
• In the Marks and Bleed tab:
  [tick] Trim Marks
  [tick] Use Document Bleed Settings
